July 23 marks the beginning of Leo season, and as a Leo myself, I’ve always had a soft spot for this sign. Maybe it’s because I’ve spent countless nights looking up at the stars, fascinated by the beauty and wonder of what our Creator placed above us. Or maybe it’s because Leos have a way of embracing life wholeheartedly, reminding all of us to shine a little brighter.

Represented by the lion and ruled by the sun, Leo is often known as the heart of the zodiac. Those born between July 23 and August 22 are frequently described as warm, generous, creative, and fiercely loyal. They love deeply, celebrate others well, and have a natural ability to bring light and energy wherever they go.

While astrology can be fun and fascinating, I love looking at the zodiac as another way to celebrate the qualities that make each of us unique.

That’s what inspired my Zodiac Stamped Collection.

Why I Chose Black Onyx for Leo

One thing I discovered while designing the collection is that there are many gemstones associated with each zodiac sign. Depending on the source, you’ll find a variety of traditional stones connected to Leo, including:

  • Peridot
  • Ruby
  • Carnelian
  • Citrine
  • Tiger’s Eye
  • Sunstone
  • Black Onyx

Rather than trying to follow one particular list, I selected gemstones that I felt best reflected the strengths and spirit of each sign.

For Leo, I chose Black Onyx.

At first glance, it may seem unexpected. After all, Leo is ruled by the sun and often associated with bright, fiery colors. But the more I thought about it, the more Black Onyx felt like the perfect complement.

Because beneath all that confidence and creativity, Leos are incredibly loyal. They protect the people they love. They carry others through hard seasons. They show up when it matters most. And sometimes, they need reminders that strength doesn’t always have to be loud.

The Heart of Leo

Leos are often known for their warmth and generosity.

They’re the people cheering the loudest for others.

They’re creative dreamers and natural leaders.

They’re the ones who gather everyone around the table and make people feel welcome.

And while they may enjoy being celebrated, what many people don’t realize is that Leos also carry a deep sense of responsibility. They love hard, protect fiercely, and often put others before themselves.

Leo energy isn’t about attention.

It’s about heart.

Black Onyx: A Stone of Strength and Protection

For centuries, Black Onyx has been associated with strength, grounding, and protection. Ancient cultures believed it provided stability during difficult times and encouraged resilience through life’s challenges.

While no gemstone defines who we are, I love the symbolism behind Black Onyx for Leo.

It reminds us that confidence isn’t arrogance.

Leadership isn’t perfection.

And strength doesn’t always have to roar.

Sometimes strength looks like staying grounded.

Showing up.

Protecting what matters.

And continuing to shine, even when life feels heavy.

Written in the Stars

As a Leo myself, I’ve always been fascinated by the stars and the stories they’ve inspired throughout history. There’s something humbling about looking up at the night sky and realizing how big and beautiful God’s creation really is.

Whether you’re a Leo yourself or love someone born during Leo season, I hope this season serves as a reminder to celebrate what makes you unique.

Your creativity.

Your loyalty.

Your generosity.

Your ability to bring light to others.

Because being a Leo isn’t about being the center of attention.

It’s about using your light to help others shine, too.

And that’s something worth celebrating.
